How to Find the Suppliers Behind an AI Data Center

Trace power, cooling, optical connectivity and chip packaging, then verify each supplier’s actual project role.

Begin with a project and follow its dependencies

Searching for AI stocks starts with names. Supplier research starts with a project: what must be built, connected and accepted before computing can run? Work from that physical chain, then attach companies only where evidence supports a defined role.

A useful map separates the equipment vendor, the buyer, the installer and the operator. It also distinguishes an architecture contributor from a supplier selected for one named deployment.

Four layers to investigate

Illustrative starting points, not a confirmed bill of materials for one site
LayerResearch starting pointNext evidence check
Electrical supply and distributionEaton (ETN): grid-to-chip power infrastructure described in its NVIDIA DSX announcement.Identify the customer, equipment scope, procurement and site energization milestones.
Power and thermal infrastructureVertiv (VRT): integrated power and cooling models described for NVIDIA DSX designs.Check the configuration selected for the project, contracted scope and delivery evidence.
Optical connectivityCorning (GLW): fiber, cable and connectivity under its stated Meta agreement.Separate contract ceiling, scheduled supply, recognized sales and customer scope.
Chip fabrication and packagingTSMC (TSM): foundry and advanced-packaging capabilities described in its annual report.Verify which product and packaging process are relevant before assigning a site or customer relationship.

These companies are research examples. The table does not assert that they all supply a single data center, or that every data center uses the same technology.

What the official sources support

Eaton’s March 16, 2026 release and Vertiv’s March 17 release describe their infrastructure roles in NVIDIA reference designs. They provide architecture evidence, not a complete purchasing record for a named operating site.

Corning’s January 27, 2026 Meta announcement describes a multiyear agreement of up to $6 billion for fiber, cable and connectivity. “Up to” and “multiyear” must stay attached: the headline amount is not current annual recognized revenue.

TSMC’s 2025 annual-report site describes advanced-packaging technologies including CoWoS, InFO and SoIC. That supports a packaging research lead. It does not prove that a given customer’s entire capital budget accrues to TSMC or that every chip uses the same package.

Build the map from both ends

  1. Choose one operator, project or architecture. Record the date and whether it is announced, under construction or operating.
  2. List the functions needed: power, cooling, connectivity and computing hardware. Add construction and integration separately where relevant.
  3. Search company announcements, technical documents and filings for a named product or project role.
  4. Cross-check the buyer’s disclosure where available. If only the vendor identifies the role, retain that limitation.
  5. Record a supplier edge as confirmed, claimed or unresolved for its specific scope. Do not generalize from one configuration to every future build.
  6. Return to the financial filing: what revenue, orders and margins are disclosed in the same scope?

Explore supplier connections in X-Ray →

X-Ray is a starting map with evidence attached to its own relationships. It is not a purchasing ledger or a complete bill of materials for every data center. Use Revenue Exposure Checker to keep financial materiality separate from the graph connection.

Find the limiting step rather than assume it

For each project, ask which milestone currently prevents useful output: electrical connection, accepted equipment, installation, thermal commissioning or computing-system integration. A component can be indispensable without being the project’s current limiting step.

Document the claim as a testable statement: “This project cannot energize before the named electrical equipment is installed and accepted.” Then seek a project schedule and acceptance milestone. Avoid replacing that evidence with a broad statement that all AI growth is constrained by the same component.

A more complete map can change the conclusion. Follow the power-delivery guide and the partnership evidence checklist before turning a supplier list into an investment thesis.

Questions to ask before acting

Can I copy the operator’s capital budget into supplier revenue?

No. The budget spans different vendors, labor, land and timing. Seek the supplier’s own contracted scope and reporting.

Does a reference-design position establish exclusive supply?

No. Preserve the architecture and product scope, then look for procurement terms. Do not infer exclusivity from participation.

Where should the map stop?

Stop where the evidence stops. A clearly labeled unresolved relationship is more useful than an invented connection that makes the map look complete.
